QEP Outstanding Student-Athletes

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a five-year assessment that will provide an institutional course of action to improve student learning.

While it is a requirement for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reaffirmation of accreditation, the QEP provides Itawamba Community College with a valuable opportunity to focus on one area that will enhance student learning.

Through a 20-month comprehensive development process that began in October 2015 and continued until May 2017, ICC chose the QEP topic of Reading Comprehension and developed a thoughtful plan of action to improve student outcomes in this area.

ICC’s QEP is a research-based instructional strategy aimed at improving reading comprehension that targets a significant segment of the student population. The goal is to reach about 2,300 students or 41 percent of fall enrollment over the five years of the plan. [Click here to read more]

"When our students become better comprehenders, they become more skilled, capable employees. This leads to more confident parents equipped to help their children. When this occurs, we all benefit," Dr. Laura Pannell, QEP Chair

Throughout the 2019 half of the basketball season, the QEP program recognized 12 student-athletes selected by their coaches or directors as an "Outstanding Student-Athlete" for their performance in the classroom. The selected student-athlete also selected a member of the ICC faculty or staff for the positive influence they have had on them during their time at ICC.
