No. 16 Indians advance to NJCAA Region 23 Tournament
With a postseason sweep of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the No. 16-ranked ICC baseball program earned a spot in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
Fulton, Miss. – With a postseason sweep of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the No. 16-ranked Itawamba Community College baseball program earned a spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament.
In the best-of-three play-in series, the Indians (25-13) defeated Gulf Coast, 5-2, in game one and 9-1 in game two to secure their spot in the region tournament for the third consecutive season.
Pearl River Community College will host this year's tournament in Poplarville, May 17-21, and the Indians will be the No. 5 seed.
The Indians' opening game in the tournament will be against No. 8 ranked and No. 2 seeded Meridian Community College, Monday, May 17, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The region tournament is a six-team double elimination format with five of the six ranked in the Top 20 of the NJCAA Rankings. (Click here for full bracket)
