Verdung, Davis earn All-MACCC honors

Fulton, Miss. (LetsGoICC.com) – The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) recently announced its baseball postseason honors, and Itawamba Community College's Will Verdung and Riley Davis earned All-MACCC honors.

Verdung achieved All-MACCC First Team honors as he led the Indians in numerous offensive categories while being the starting third baseman and spending some time on the mound as well. He had a team-high .416 batting average, 18 doubles, 10 home runs and 42 RBI.

The Corinth native also led the Indians with a .512 on base percentage and a .781 slugging percentage.

Verdung had nine appearances on the mound and picked up one win and two saves while striking out 19 in 16 and two thirds' innings of work. Overall, he finished with a .930 fielding percentage with 43 putouts and 37 assists. He was named MACCC Player of the Week once during the season.

Davis, a Collierville, Tenn. native, was named All-MACCC Second Team and he finished his sophomore season hitting .405 with 14 doubles, seven home runs and a team-high 42 RBI, tied with Verdung. While catching 37 of 40 games, Davis recorded 200 putouts, 5 assists and finished with a .972 fielding percentage.

Prior to the 2022 season, Davis signed to continue his career with Louisiana Monroe.

Joining Verdung and Davis are Brady Davis, Roe Ketchum and Bryce Capobianco who were selected as All-MACCC Honorable Mention.

Brady Davis, a Hamilton native, finished with a 5-1 record and struck out 38 batters in 51 and one third innings of work. The left handed pitcher finished with a 4.38 ERA.

Ketchum completed his sophomore season with a 5-2 record and a team-high 41 strikeouts. The left hander from West Point, threw 42 innings and finished with a 3.43 ERA. Ketchum has signed with West Alabama.

Capobianco, a Saltillo native, finished with a .346 batting average and had 36 hits, eight doubles, one triple and two home runs, both were grand slams. The Mississippi College signee had a .545 on base percentage and drew 17 walks.
