Fulton, Miss. – Former Itawamba Community College baseball standout Kyle Crigger was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the seventh round, 202 overall pick, in the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft Monday afternoon.
Crigger, who played the 2018-19 seasons at ICC, helped the Indians win the conference championship in 2019, and is the highest draft pick in ICC baseball history. (Click here for full list of ICC draftees)
The Corinth native split time on the mound and infield at ICC and hit .319 in his career with 118 hits, 89 runs scored, 21 doubles, 10 home runs and two triples.
On the mound, he had a career earned run average of 2.83 with a 5-4 record and 10 saves with 56 strikeouts in 70 innings of work.
After ICC, Crigger transferred to Louisiana Tech University and his pitching ability shone.In his senior season, Crigger picked up 10 saves as the Bulldogs' closer and finished his career with 16 saves. His career record for the Bulldogs was 6-4 with a 2.68 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 111 innings.
Crigger will join the Marlins organization, which has minor league affiliates in Beloit, Wis., Jupiter, Fla., Pensacola, Fla. and Jacksonville, Fla.
