FULTON, MS – The ICC football team wrapped up its first week of fall camp after reporting to campus on Tuesday to begin preparations for the 2015 season opener on Thursday, August 27 against top-ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
"We have had a good first five days of camp," said Sean Cannon, who is entering his second year as head coach of the Indians. "The players have been battling the elements and getting their work done."
The Indians, who finished 4-5 and tied for second in the MACJC North last season with a 4-2 record, held their first team practices with the entire 2015 roster on campus. ICC returns 26 sophomores, including 2015 MACJC All-State selections in wide receiver Grant Kimberlin (Olive Branch), defensive back Levarious Varndao (Calhoun City) and defensive linemen Ladarius Gallion (West Point) and Naquez Pringle (Georgetown, SC).
"These guys have picked up where they left off from spring practice," Cannon. "We are going to rely heavily on our sophomores to help bring our freshmen up to speed in a hurry because on this level you don't have a lot of time to sit back and watch."
Other key returnees include quarterback Kwadra Griggs (Greenwood), defensive end Trev Miller (Noxapater), and defensive backs Quinn Tiggs (Tupelo) and Antonio Clifton (Tupelo).
"I have been real impressed with Kwadra throwing the ball in practice," Cannon said of the Southern Miss commit. "Our defensive line has proven to be a bright spot with depth and our defensive backs have made some big plays in camp and have shown a lot of leadership."

"Overall I have been pleased with our team's work ethic so far," Cannon. "I feel like the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fall in place. As a team, we have to continue focusing on taking care of the football on offense and forcing turnovers on defense."
