Turnover-prone Indians lose to Hinds, 34-7

FULTON, Miss. – ICC committed five turnovers in a 34-7 loss to Hinds Community College on Thursday.
After back-to-back turnovers on their first two drives of the game, the Indians (3-4, 3-1 MACCC North) found themselves in the 17-0 hole to the Eagles (4-3, 3-1 MACCC South) early in the second quarter before breaking through on the offensive side of things.
Karson Green (Mobile, AL) found Nick Fortune (Sumter, SC) on a 10-yard touchdown pass with just over nine minutes left before halftime.
Green threw for 172 yards on 15 of 25 passing with one touchdown and three interceptions. Fortune had three catches for 32 yards and a score.
Hinds added a 17-yard touchdown pass and 25-yard field goal to take a 27-7 advantage into the break.
The Indians threw interceptions on their first three drives of the second half to allow Hinds to pull away for a 34-7 advantage in the third quarter before picking up the win after a scoreless fourth quarter.
The Indians' offense could only manage 187 yards to go along with the five turnovers. Jamal Brooks (Ripley) rushed for 22 yards on eight carries. Azaria Smith (Tipton, GA) had 116 yards receiving on six catches.
Defensively, Josh Pack (Olive Branch) led the way with 11 tackles with one sack, three tackles for a loss and two pass break-ups.
ICC will look to bounce back when they travel to Scooba on Saturday to take on East Mississippi with a spot at the playoffs on the line. The then No. 7 Lions (4-3, 2-2 MACCC) dropped a 31-21 shocker to Northeast (4-3, 2-2 MACCC) after committing seven turnovers on the night.
