Scooba, Miss. – In a fight for second place in the North Division, Itawamba Community College and No. 14 East Mississippi Community College were locked in a tight battle for three quarters. However, a quarterback change sparked a big fourth quarter for the Lions to give them a 38-10 win.
In the first three quarters, the Indians (3-5, 3-2 MACCC North) held the Lions to only two touchdowns and a field goal, while scoring on a 24-yard field goal by Price Nixon (Clinton) in the second and a 30-yard touchdown pass to Dylan King (Holly Springs) in the third.
The Indian defense forced the Lions to have numerous three-play drives in the first three quarters but trailed 14-10 with six minutes left in the third.
On the final drive of the third quarter, the Lions replaced their starting quarterback with Peter Parrish, a transfer who was most recently at Memphis, and he led them to 24 unanswered points including 21 points in the final quarter.
Early in the fourth, the Lions extended their lead to 24-10 on a 72-yard touchdown run and scored on a 33-yard pass after an interception at the 37 gave them a short field.
To cap off the scoring, the Lions threw a four-yard touchdown pass with just under five minutes left in the game.
Brandon Fairley (Lake Cormorant) and Antravian Smith (Southaven) led the Indian defense with 10 tackles each.
The Indians will wrap up the regular season Thursday night when they host Coahoma Community College on Breast Cancer Awareness and Sophomore Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red and Tupelo Supertalk 101.9 FM.
