JACKSON, Miss. – For the first time in league history, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) will use instant replay during the 2025 football season. The conference will utilize the Hudl Instant Replay System to bring greater accuracy and fairness to game-day officiating.
Under the new policy, there are two ways a play can be reviewed. If officials call targeting, the game will stop automatically, and the referee will review the hit through the replay system. Coaches also have the power to challenge a ruling on the field, provided they have both a timeout and a challenge remaining.
Each coach begins the game with one challenge. A successful challenge restores the timeout and allows the coach to retain the right to challenge again, with a maximum of two challenges per game. An unsuccessful challenge costs the coach both the timeout and the challenge. No additional challenges are granted for overtime.
Following every review, the referee will announce the decision on the field to both teams and the crowd. In situations where replay equipment malfunctions or a play is not available for review, the call on the field will stand, and the team will not be charged a timeout or a challenge. However, if the play is reviewable but the video evidence is inconclusive, the ruling on the field will remain, and the team will lose both its timeout and its challenge.
Replay will be available for critical plays such as scoring rulings, catches, interceptions, fumbles, loose ball recoveries and kicks. All targeting fouls are automatically reviewed, and coaches may also challenge plays they believe should have been called targeting. Timing errors are not reviewable under the current system.
The addition of replay marks a new era for MACCC football, combining tradition with modern technology to ensure that the game is decided on the field with the highest level of accuracy possible.
