Gray earns second NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week honor
Sophomore defensive back Orel Gray (Jacksonville, Fla.) has earned his second National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Football Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore defensive back Orel Gray (Jacksonville, Fla.) has earned his second National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Football Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, the NJCAA announced Wednesday.
Gray delivered another standout performance in ICC's 44-28 road win over Holmes, stuffing the stat sheet with 10 tackles, one assist, a tackle for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a pass breakup. He also capped his night with a 75-yard fumble return for a touchdown to seal the victory and keep the Indians atop the MACCC North Division standings.
In addition to the national recognition, Gray was also named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.
The 15th-ranked Indians will hit the gridiron again on Thursday, Oct. 23, for Sophomore Night at Butch Lambert Stadium, hosting the rival Northeast Tigers (4-3, 2-3 MACCC North). The Guaranty Bank opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with the Metro Ford Pregame Show starting at 6:30 p.m. on SuperTalk 101.9 FM and LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
