Travis Macon
Head Football Coach

Travis Macon serves as a coach at Itawamba Community College, bringing more than 20 years of experience as a player and coach across high school, junior college, and NCAA Division I levels. Known for his leadership, discipline, and commitment to player development, Macon has built a strong reputation for elevating programs and guiding student-athletes to success on and off the field.

Macon began his coaching career at Northeast Mississippi Community College from 2008 to 2013, starting as an offensive line coach before transitioning to defensive coordinator. During his tenure, the Tigers earned a national ranking and made their first playoff appearance in six years in 2011. He then coached the defensive line at Northwest Mississippi Community College from 2014 to 2019, developing one of the premier defensive units in the MACJC. In 2017, Northwest led the conference in scoring defense and ranked second in total defense, with the defensive front recording 93 tackles for loss and 32 sacks. Macon served as head football coach at Coahoma Community College from 2020 to 2022, mentoring players and building a competitive program. Over his coaching career, he has helped 51 offensive and defensive linemen advance to four-year programs, including 27 to NCAA Division I schools such as Ole Miss, Louisville, West Virginia, Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas State.

As a player, Macon was a key contributor to Starkville High School’s back-to-back state championships from 1995 to 1997. He continued his career at Northeast Mississippi Community College before transferring to Ole Miss, where he played offensive tackle from 2000 to 2002 under head coach David Cutcliffe and was part of the 2000 Music City Bowl team.

Macon earned his A.A. in General Studies from Northeast Mississippi Community College, a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of Mississippi, and an M.S. in Sports Psychology from Capella University.

Coach Macon and his wife, Deimara, have three children: Haleih, Brian, and Ambrielle.
