FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College sophomore point guard Alex Anderson was named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) men's basketball player of the week after leading the Indians to three victories.
"We are really excited for Alex receiving this honor," said Coach Grant Pate. "He's the epitome of a student-athlete and is a tremendous leader for our team."
The Memphis, TN native averaged 18.3 points, 1 rebound, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in the Indians (6-4, 2-0 MACJC North) wins over Coahoma Community College Meridian Community College, and Snead State Community College. He shot 64.3 percent (18-28) from the floor, 57.1 percent (4-7) from 3-point range, and converted 83.3 percent (15-18) from the free throw line.
"These past three games he's really come into his own," commented Pate. "He's one of the hardest working players that I've had the opportunity to coach in my 24 years of coaching and is everything you hope at the point guard position."
He dished out season-high of 10 assists and score 27 points for his first double-double performance as an Indian in ICC's 87-78 win over Snead State.

The Indians will return to the Davis Event Center on Monday, January 6 at 7:30 p.m. against No. 19 Jones County Junior College (8-0, 3-0 MACJC South).
