FULTON, MS – The Davis Event Center will be the site for the 2014 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Basketball Tournament starting with the men's quarterfinals on Monday, February 24th and concluding on Thursday, February 27th with the championship games.
"I feel like this is going to be one of the most competitive state tournaments in recent memory," said ICC Athletic Director Carrie Ball-Williamson. "All but one division came down to using the conference tiebreaker system to determine tournament seeding and even then they had to use the third and fourth option in the tiebreaker rules."

The men will open tournament play on Monday, February 24th when No. 1 seed Jones County Junior College (19-4, 11-3 MACJC South) takes on No. 4 seed Coahoma Community College (9-14. 7-5 MACJC North) at 1:00 p.m. with No. 2 seed East Mississippi Community College (8-3, 17-5 MACJC North) facing No. 3 seed Pearl River Community College (16-6, 9-5 MACJC South) at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon session.
The night session will feature the host Indians (14-9, 9-3 MACJC North) taking on No. 4 seed Southwest Mississippi Community College (12-11, 6-8 MACJC South) at 6:00 p.m. and at 8:00 p.m. No. 2 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (18-5, 11-3 MACJC South) will square off against No. 3 seed Northwest Mississippi Community College (12-9, 8-4 MACJC North).
"This is going to be a very tough tournament," said Coach Grant Pate. "You've got No. 4 seeds that beat No. 1 seeds during the regular season and then the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds very easily could've been the top seed in both divisions.
The women will take center stage on Tuesday when No. 2 seed Meridian Community College (18-5, 10-4 MACJC South) takes on No. 3 seed Mississippi Delta Community College (13-9, 8-4 MACJC North) at 1:00 p.m. and No. 1 seed East Mississippi (16-7, 11-1 MACJC North) faces off against No. 4 seed Southwest Mississippi (17-6, 9-5 MACJC South) at 3:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals afternoon session.
No. 1 seed Jones County (16-7, 10-4 MACJC South) will play No. 4 seed Northwest Mississippi (12-8, 6-6 MACJC North) at 6:00 p.m. before the No. 2 seed ICC Lady Indians (14-9, 10-2 MACJC North) wraps up the evening session at 8:00 p.m. against No. 3 seed Pearl River (15-5, 10-4 MACJC South).
"It's going to be a battle," Coach Nanci Gray commented. "Our division was very competitive with all four teams neck-and-neck throughout the regular season and then the South Division had a three-way tie for the top spot and the No. 4 team was a win away from being the No. 1 seed and even the No. 4 seed had to be determined on a tiebreaker as well."
Wednesday's semifinals will feature four games beginning with the women at 1:00 p.m. and will conclude with the men at 8:00 p.m.
The women will start the championship round at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and the men's championship will follow at 8:00 p.m.
