Wilson Steps Down After Two Strong Seasons at ICC

FULTON, Miss. - Darrian Wilson's two seasons at ICC produced wins, postseason success and player advancement.
After guiding the Indians to a 49-13 record over two years, Wilson has chosen to step down as he pursues new opportunities following a stretch that featured a MACCC championship, a Region 23 championship game appearance and continued momentum for one of the league's established programs.
Wilson made an immediate impact in his first season as head coach in 2024-25.
ICC went 25-6 overall, finished 11-3 in MACCC play and advanced to the NJCAA Region 23 semifinals. Just as important, nine graduates from that team earned the opportunity to continue their basketball careers at four-year programs.
That first season set the tone for what followed.
In 2025-26, Wilson guided the Indians to a 24-7 overall record and a dominant 13-1 mark in conference play as ICC claimed its first conference championship since 2013-14. The Indians climbed as high as No. 25 in the NJCAA Division II rankings and carried that run all the way to the Region 23 championship game, where they pushed Jones to overtime before falling 102-96.
The postseason honors followed the results.
Wilson was named the MACCC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year after leading one of the best seasons in recent program history. Damarion Winston was named the MACCC Men's Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 16.5 points per game. Winston and DJ Davis both earned first-team All-MACCC and NJCAA All-Region 23 honors. Tim Holliday added second-team All-MACCC recognition after a modern-era record performance that included 44 points and nine made 3-pointers in a game. Kyler Fox earned honorable mention All-MACCC after leading the Indians in rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage.
The previous season brought major recognition as well.
AJ Dent earned first-team All-MACCC, NJCAA All-Region 23 honors and NJCAA Division I All-American honorable mention recognition. Marcel Bridges received All-MACCC honorable mention, while Kam Clark was named to the NJCAA Region 23 All-Tournament Team.
And the player advancement did not stop there.
Numerous sophomores and freshmen from this past season are expected to have the opportunity to sign at the next level, another sign of the standard Wilson helped establish in a short amount of time.
"Coach Wilson made a huge impact on this program from the moment he stepped on campus," ICC Athletic Director Dr. Chad Case said. "He helped us win, helped our players grow and helped a lot of young men put themselves in position to take the next step in their careers. We are thankful for the energy, leadership and belief he brought to ICC every day."
Wilson was announced as ICC's head coach on Jan. 24, 2024, after serving as an assistant in the program. He took over following the 2023-24 season and quickly turned promise into production.
"Coach Wilson represented ICC the right way and left a lasting mark on our men's basketball program," ICC President Dr. Jay Allen said. "He helped lead this team to a championship and most importantly helped our student athletes grow as young men, both on and off the court."
Wilson leaves ICC after two strong seasons with a championship, deep postseason success and a long list of players who either have moved on or are positioned to do the same.
Case said the search for ICC's next men's basketball head coach will begin immediately.
