26 ICC student-athletes earn MACJC Academic honors

FULTON, MS - The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) awarded 26 Itawamba Community College student-athletes with Academic All-State and Distinguished Academic All-State honors when the league released their yearly academic honors.
"Academics have been and always will be our top priority here at ICC," said Athletic Director Carrie Ball-Williamson. "We are extremely proud of all our student-athletes and the success they've had in the classroom along with the success in their given sports."
Tennis' Amber Frederick (Shannon), basketball's Leslie Robinson (Belmont), soccer's Amanda Segovia (Amory), softball's Catherine Carver (Hernando) and Rachel Elder (Guntown) earn the prestigious MACJC Distinguished Academic All-State honors for having a GPA of 3.8 or better.
Frederick finished her final season as a Lady Indian with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
"A lot of the credit has to be given to the coaches for stressing the importance of getting a quality education, but we also have to credit all of our teachers and everyone that works in our Student Success Center for all they do to help all of the students here at ICC," said Ball-Williamson.
Tory Rice (Starkville) of the men's state championship basketball team along with Caleb Ballard (Shannon) of the men's state championship tennis team earned along with 19 other ICC student-athletes representing all 10 intercollegiate athletic programs earned Academic All-State honors.
