BROOKHAVEN, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College golf team finished tied for eighth place at the MACCC Championship, held at The Club at Ole Brook in Brookhaven.
The Indians were led by Max King, who delivered a strong performance to finish tied for 12th individually. King opened the tournament with an impressive 68 (-2) in the first round before carding a 75 (+5) in the second round to finish with a two-day total of 143 (+3).
Harvey Taylor posted a solid effort for ICC, finishing tied for 30th on the player leaderboard. Taylor recorded rounds of 73 (+3) and 76 (+6) to close the tournament at 149 (+9).
Katch Edge added a tied-for-36th finish, shooting 74 (+4) in the opening round and 78 (+8) in round two for a total score of 152 (+12).
Malone Richardson posted a tied-for-45th finish, improving in the second round with a 77 (+7) after opening with an 80 (+10), finishing at 157 (+17).
Brooks McLemore competed in the first round for ICC, posting an 87 (+17) and sitting in 59th place after day one. Andrew Freeman subbed in for the second round and recorded a 79 (+9), finishing 61st overall.
King qualified for an individual spot in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament, which will be held at Castlewoods Country Club in Brandon, April 27-29. He will play for a spot in the NJCAA Division II Golf Championship Tournament at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.
