In a week filled with weather delays and match relocations the men’s tennis team found themselves playing in four championship matches in the NJCAA Men’s National Tournament on Friday.
Moorman will continue in the No. 5 flight championship bracket. Godbold and Madlock will advance in the No. 2 doubles championship bracket. The rest of the Indain squad will fall into the consolation bracket.
The No. 21 Indians wrapped up the Region 23 Tournament with a 5-3 win over Co-Lin to earn a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament.
The Indians will be the No. 3 seed in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament and will face No. 6 seeded Meridian Thursday at 2 p.m. in Ellisville.
The No. 21 Indians overcame a 3-2 deficit to pick up a 6-3 win over No. 20 East Central Friday.
The breaks beat the boys in the No. 21 Indians' (1-2) 8-1 loss to No. 19 Gulf Coast on Friday as ICC dropped three single matches in super tiebreakers.
Indians (1-1) picked up a win in No. 1 singles by Sergio Garcia and No. 5 singles from Russell Moorman in a 7-2 loss at No. 15 Jones on Tuesday.
The Indians (1-0) took a 2-0 advantage after doubles play and picked up wins in No. 2, 4 and 6 singles to pick up a 5-4 win over Hinds (0-1) to open the 2021 tennis season.
