The No. 23 ICC men’s tennis team saw its season come to a close on Thursday, falling 5-0 to No. 13 Gulf Coast in the NJCAA Region 23 Quarterfinal.
ELLISVILLE, Miss. – The No. 23 ICC men's tennis team saw its season come to a close on Thursday, falling 5-0 to No. 13 Gulf Coast in the NJCAA Region 23 Quarterfinal.
In doubles play, Gulf Coast swept all three courts to take an early 3-0 lead in the match. At No. 1, Kole Kusek and Josue Segrelles Tronchoni dropped an 8-3 decision. Andrej Tasevski and Andrea Cattaneo fell 8-4 at No. 2, while Matthew Durrett and Jacob Christ were defeated 8-1 at No. 3.
In singles action, Gulf Coast secured the team victory to advance to the semifinal with wins on two courts. Segrelles Tronchoni fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, and Durrett dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6.
Matches at Nos. 2 through 5 singles were in progress but went unfinished once Gulf Coast clinched the team win. Cattaneo was leading early after taking the first set, 7-5, at No. 2, while Tasevski (No. 3), Kusek (No. 4) and Christ (No. 5) were all mid-match when play was halted
