No. 2 Indians to compete in NJCAA Region 23 Tournament
The No. 2 ranked Itawamba Community College softball program will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament this week on the campus of LSU-Eunice in Eunice, La.
Fulton, Miss. – The No. 2 ranked Itawamba Community College softball program will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament this week on the campus of LSU-Eunice in Eunice, La.
Originally the tournament was scheduled to begin Wednesday, but due to rain forecast for the area, the tournament is now set to begin Thursday with the Indians playing in the opening game.
ICC will be the No. 3 seed and will face a familiar opponent in No. 9 ranked and No. 4 seeded Co-Lin Wolves, whom they have faced four times this season, including twice in the conference tournament last week.
First pitch of the region tournament opener is scheduled for noon and will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
This is the third consecutive trip to the Region 23 Tournament for the Indians, who finished as runner-up and clinched a berth to the national tournament in 2019.
This season, the Indians won the conference regular season title and finished as runner-up in the conference tournament.
The Region tournament is a six-team double elimination format with five of the six ranked in the Top 20 of the NJCAA Rankings. (Click here for bracket)
