Indians Move Up To No. 13 in Latest NJCAA Poll

The Itawamba Community College softball team climbed one spot to No. 13 in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Top 25 Rankings, the NJCAA announced Monday.

FULTON, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College softball team climbed one spot to No. 13 in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Top 25 Rankings, the NJCAA announced Monday.

The Indians, who were ranked No. 14 a week ago, opened the week with a road sweep of Holmes, earning a 9–1 victory in game one and a 13–5 win in game two. They wrapped up the week with a road doubleheader at No. 6 Jones, falling 13–8 in game one and 8–7 in game two.

At the plate, AB Marlar leads the Indians with a .439 batting average, followed by Victoria Fields at .340 and Ella Duhon at .333. Marlar also paces the team with 48 RBIs and 13 home runs on the season.

In the circle, Ramsey Montgomery owns a 1.95 ERA with 194 strikeouts, while Lizzie Meeks holds a 2.32 ERA with 119 strikeouts. Montgomery and Meeks are tied for the team lead in wins with 14 apiece.

No. 13 ICC will face No. 6 Jones in the opening round of the Region 23 Tournament at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville on Friday, May 1, with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
