LaPrecious Naylon named NJCAA Player of the Week
Naylon is tied for thirteenth in the nation with 6.5 assist per game while fellow sophomore Jameika Hoskins (Aberdeen) is tied for eighteenth amongst the top rebounders in the nation with 11 boards per game.
Sophomore guard LaPrecious Naylon (Greene Co, AL) earned NJCAA DI Women's Player of the Week honors after helping lead the ICC Lady Indians (5-1) to a pair of road victories last week.
In a 76-68 win at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, the sophomore posted her first double-double of the season with 25 points and 11 assists before scoring 14 points in a 69-59 victory over Jones County JC where the Eutaw, Alabama native also dished out eight assists and swiped four steals.
"LaPrecious has really stepped up her game this season," said ICC women's basketball coach Nanci Gray. "She has become that leader at point guard that teams need to be successful.
"Her maturity has really shown when it comes to understanding and knowing what to do to help the team win whether it be scoring or setting up her teammates to score. This is a great honor for her and hopefully is the first of many more to come for our program."
Naylon is tied for thirteenth in the nation with 6.5 assist per game while fellow sophomore Jameika Hoskins (Aberdeen) is tied for eighteenth amongst the top rebounders in the nation with 11 boards per game.
As a team, the Lady Indians are fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage.
Naylon and the Lady Indians will return home Monday to host Shelton State CC and will open MACJC North Division play on Thursday as they host Coahoma CC.
