FULTON, MS – Former Itawamba Community College basketball standout Jameika Hoskins has been recognized for her final season as a Lady Indian with her jersey currently being part of the "Ring of Honor" display at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenneessee.
"We are excited for Jameika," said ICC women's basketball coach Nanci Gray. "She's one of the finest athletes I've ever been around and to have her jersey represent ICC in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is a great honor for our program."
Hoskins earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) second team All-American honors after averaging 14.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game to help lead the Lady Indians to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Women's North Division and State Championships.
"She embodies what an All-American should be," said Gray. "People always talk about what a great person she is, teachers talk about her being a great student and she is a great role model for young ladies that have dreams of playing college basketball."
The Aberdeen, MS native also led the Lady Indians to a 26-3 mark and a runner-up finish in the NJCAA Region 23 tournament, was 21st in the nation in rebounding and signed with Southeaster Louisiana University. She was also selected to the North All-Star team after being named to the MACJC All-State and NJCAA All-Region 23 teams this past season.
As a freshman, Hoskins was named to the NJCAA All-Region 23 Tournament Team and the MACJC All-State honorable mention list.
Hoskins' jersey will hang in the North Rotunda of the Hall during the 2012-13 sports season as part of the display celebrating the accomplishments of the nation's best high school and college student-athletes.
The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame opened in 1999 and is the only Hall of Fame of its kind, dedicated to all levels of women's basketball.
