MERIDIAN, MS – Sophomores Ayanna Lynn (Indianola) and Jasmine Hampton (Bruce) combine for 30 points to help the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians close the 2012 half of the season on a four-game win streak with a 64-50 road win over Meridian Community College on Saturday.
"This was a big win to go into the Christmas break on a positive note," said ICC head coach Nanci Gray. "Hopefully we can build on this win, heal some bumps and bruises over the holidays and get ready for a strong push in division play."
Lynn paced the Lady Indians with 16 while Hampton, coming off a previous season-high of 13 points, added 14 points along with a career-high 14 rebounds in the win.
"This was one of the best games Hamp has played in her career here at ICC," Gray commented on the sophomore center. "She had a big game against Lawson and was able to follow it up with a double-double performance… we are hoping this is just the start of great things to come her way this season."
Freshman point guard Leslie Robinson (Belmont) scored a season-high 9 while sophomore guard Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) added 8 points in the win.
"We challenged Leslie to step up her role as a scorer," Gray said. "She did a good job on being aggressive while not being greedy and still creating scoring opportunities for her teammates."
Robinson and Ashley Wiley (Jackson) finished the game with 4 assists.
Latoya Collins (Jackson) added 7 and LyTia Coleman (Memphis, TN) chipped in 6 points in the win.
The Lady Indians will have a month-long break before they return to the hardwood against Arkansas Baptist College on January 8th at the Davis Event Center.
