FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College will honor its 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 champion Lady Indians during a special ceremony at halftime of the Northeast game on Thursday.
ICC defeated Baton Rouge Community College 58-57 to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since 1975 after knocking off Northwest Mississippi Community College 70-51 in the quarterfinals and Copiah-Lincoln Community College 62-56 in the semifinals.
Members of the 2012-13 Lady Indians included: Leslie Robinson (Belmont), Ty-Nita Baker (Houston), Ayanna Lynn (Indianola), Presley Pulse (Walnut), Latoya Collins (Jackson), Ashley Wiley (Jackson), Lameisha Gillom (Oxford), Rebecca Payne (Birmingham, AL), Lytia Coleman (Memphis, TN), Jasmine Hampton (Bruce), Regina Baker (Aberdeen), Nicole Griffin (Coffeeville), Coach Nanci Gray and Coach Robin Porter along with managers Katie Duncan, April Sampson, Katie McCormick, Porsha Shields, and Jonathan Wesson.
Four Lady Indians signed to continue their careers as student-athletes with Baker joining Kennesaw State University, Hampton signing with the University of West Alabama, Lynn is playing at Jackson State University, and Wiley taking her talents to William Carey University.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Eaton Field on Thursday.
