Sophomore Jamyia Bowen of Shannon has signed to continue her basketball career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore Jamyia Bowen of Shannon has signed to continue her basketball career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Bowen averaged 7.9 points per game and recorded 48 blocks and 17 steals while leading the Lady Indians to the NJCAA Region 23 semifinals. She also had a career-high 18-point performance in ICC's 79-57 win over Calhoun this past season.
Although she is looking forward to the next step of her playing career, Bowen reflected on her time as a Lady Indian.
"My time at ICC has been amazing," Bowen said. "I've developed friendships with coaches, players, other staff, instructors and classmates that will last a long time. I feel like ICC has developed me a lot, and it gave me the preparation to be great in the future."
ICC women's basketball head coach Robin Porter complimented Bowen's passion for the gane and how she has developed during her time in Fulton.
"I'm excited for her – it's a dream come true for Jamyia, and she's going to be a great asset to Little Rock's program," Porter said. "Jamyia is a tall, long and lanky player who just loves basketball. She's goofy with it, but you can't not look at her blocking shots, getting to the rim and shooting the ball. I just love the way she has developed and matured over this year, and I'm excited for her."
Bowen joins the Lady Trojans that compete in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and are a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I member.
