FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore Tenyzia Lathan of Columbus has signed to continue her basketball career at Blue Mountain Christian University.
In her final season at ICC, Lathan recorded 25 rebounds along with three blocks while leading the Lady Indians to a 23-6 record and an appearance in the NJCAA Region 23 semifinals.
Although she is excited to be moving onto the next level, Lathan looked back on the memories she made over the past two years at ICC and expressed how the college prepared her for the next chapter.
"I'm blessed to be in the position I'm in and grateful for the opportunity," Lathan said. "I want to thank my family, coaches, friends, teammates and ICC for supporting me the past two years. I'm definitely grateful for the family-like bonds I created with my team and others outside of sports. ICC was one of the best experiences coming out of high school for me."
When talking about Lathan, ICC women's basketball head coach Robin Porter described her as "a special case."
"She came from Caledonia as a walk on, earned a scholarship, and I wish we had another year with her because she's a great kid," Porter said. "She works hard and is a gym rat. I know that she is going to be a game-changer at Blue Mountain."
Lathan joins the Lady Toppers that compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) and are a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) member.
