Williams takes her game to Shorter University
D’Naylah Williams of Kosciusko has signed to continue her basketball career at Shorter University in Rome, Ga.
FULTON, Miss. – D'Naylah Williams of Kosciusko has signed to continue her basketball career at Shorter University in Rome, Ga.
Williams finished her ICC career leading the Lady Indians with 8.2 rebounds per game along with a 49.6 shooting percentage while averaging 10.4 points per game.
When talking about her time at ICC, Williams spoke of her time with the program and the determination she and her fellow sophomores had.
"My two years at ICC were really good," Williams said. "My freshman year, we went to the Final Four. So this year, we were just really determined to get further and we ended up winning a championship. So I feel like we left on a good note."
Williams earned MACCC Player of the Week for her four-straight double-doubles to help ICC open the season 4-0. She finished the season with 13 double-doubles, highlighted by a 26-point, 12-rebound effort at Columbia State. Williams was also selected to the NJCAA Region 23 All-Tournament Team.
When talking about Williams, ICC head women's basketball coach Robin Porter spoke highly of her hard work both on and off the court.
"D'Naylah has been great these past two seasons," Porter said. "She is a walking double-double and a great kid with high character, on and off the court. Shorter is getting a great student athlete all around."
Williams joins the Lady Hawks that are a member of both Conference Carolinas and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II.
