“We are really proud for both our teams,” said Coach Mike Sullivan. “This is a huge accomplishment and honor for both our squads and for the college. We came close last year and all the players made this part of the goals they wanted to achieve this season and we can’t be more proud to see all their hard work in the classroom get this type of national recognition.”
Tryouts for the women’s squad will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. while tryouts for the 2013 MACJC North Division champion men’s team will go from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the ICC Soccer Complex located near the Davis Event Center and Eaton Field on the Fulton campus.
“Most of the time this is a worrisome part of the year for coaches, but the past two years our girls have dedicated themselves in the classroom as much as they have on the field,” said Carson. “We couldn’t be any prouder of the group of young women we have representing our program as well as the college.”
With a 20 percent increase in graduating student-athletes during the 2012-13 school year, the John C. and Earnestine McCall Halbrook Improvement Award and a check for $1,200 was presented to ICC President Mike Eaton.
“I feel like Rebekah and Karlee will bring a lot to the team next season,” said Carson. “We have some holes to fill after losing seven sophomores, but we’re off to a good start with the addition of players of this caliber from a very good program at Pontotoc.”

“Annalee provided a big spark for us,” said Coach Cody Carson. “I thought she came in with an aggressive mindset and did a great job of finding the back of the net on a pretty tough shot against a really good keeper.”

The Lady Indians missed a pair of opportunities in regulation and the first overtime to finish a rainy Tuesday in Fulton with a 2-2 double overtime tie with Holmes Community College.
The Lady Indians (1-4, 0-1 MACJC North) got a pair of first-half goals from Alyssa Kelley (Saltillo) and Lindsey Burton (Caledonia) to send the game to a 2-2 tie at the break, but a late goal second-half goal by Hinds gave the Lady Indians the 3-2 victory.
Freshman striker Alyssa Kelley (Saltillo) led Itawamba Community College’s impressive offensive display Tuesday, scoring a hat trick to help the Lady Indians net their first win of the season 8-1 over Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
"This was a good taste of what the road games will be like when division play rolls around," said ICC assistant coach Cody Carson. "Jones is always one of the top teams out of the South Division and now we see where we need to be to be able to compete for a state championship."
