MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Lady Indians opened their conference slate with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Meridian on Tuesday night.
ICC scored first after Juliana Motes (Fulton) netted a goal on an assist by Liv Norris (Hernando) late in the first half to give the Lady Indians a 1-0 advantage going into the break.
Two minutes into the second half, the Lady Eagles found the equalizer to tie the score at 1. Millie Webb (Rugby, England) scored the game-winner on a penalty kick that put the Lady Indians back in front, 2-1, with 9:21 left to play.
Lauren Sharples (Liverpool, England) and Motes each had two shots on goal while Isobel Kinsella (Gloucestershire, United Kingdom), Norris and Webb contributed one apiece.
Despite allowing a goal, Annabelle Holman (Amory) recorded 15 saves in the match, which tied Kate Hester's performance against Pearl River in 2015 for fifth most in a match.
Up next, the Lady Indians (6-0, 1-0 MACCC) will be back at the ICC Soccer Complex on Friday, Sept. 20, when they host East Mississippi at 2 p.m.
