Sophomore tennis player Amber Frederick earned the highest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) academic honors when the organizations released their postseason awards.
10 Itawamba Community College student-athletes earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) academic honors for their performances in the classroom throughout the 2013-14 school year.
“It’s going to be a battle because it’s a whole different mindset when it comes to these type tournaments,” said Johnson. “There will be a lot of tennis played over three days and you have to be ready mentally to fight through the a lot of challenges other than the person on the other side of the net.”
The Lady Indians (3-1) bounced back after their loss to Snead State Community College with a 6-3 road win over Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday.
After two-straight road trips, the Lady Indians (2-1) finally got a chance to host a match at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts agianst Snead State Community College on Tuesday.
The Lady Indians held off a late surge in singles play to move to 2-0 on the season with a 5-4 win over Hinds Community College on Saturday.
The Lady Indians opened their back-to-back MACJC championship defense in impressive fashion with a 8-1 win over Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Friday.
