FULTON, Miss. – The No. 22 Lady Indians dropped a 9-0 decision against No. 7 Jones on Sophomore Day.
In doubles action, Jones swept all three courts to take an early 3-0 lead. At No. 1, Agostina Pizarro and Melina Vazquez faced a tough matchup, falling 8-0. Breanne Sparks and Ava Logan battled at No. 2 but came up short, 8-3. At No. 3, Ava Moore and Addi Joshlin showed fight before dropping an 8-4 decision.
In singles play, Jones continued to control the match, claiming all six courts to secure the sweep. Pizarro competed well at No. 1, falling 6-4, 6-2. Vazquez dropped her match at No. 2 by a 6-1, 6-0 score, while Sparks fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
At No. 4, Joshlin was defeated 6-1, 6-0, and Logan dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision at No. 5. Moore rounded out singles play at No. 6, falling 6-1, 6-1.
