Bio
A 1995 graduate of Itawamba Community College, Duce Staley made an immediate impact during his time with the Indians, earning NJCAA All-America honors and establishing himself as one of the premier running backs in junior college football. His success at ICC propelled him to the University of South Carolina, where he continued to excel and laid the foundation for a long and successful professional career.
Staley was selected in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles and went on to enjoy a standout 10-year NFL playing career. Over seven seasons with the Eagles, he became one of the franchise’s most dependable offensive weapons. Staley finished his NFL career having appeared in 114 games, rushing for 5,785 yards and 24 touchdowns on 1,430 carries while adding 287 receptions for 2,587 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. He surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark three times and became just the second player in Eagles history to rush for more than 200 yards in a single game. Staley concluded his playing career with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004 to 2006 and was a member of the team that captured Super Bowl XL, adding a championship to an already impressive professional resume.
Following his playing career, Staley transitioned into coaching and has built an outstanding reputation for developing running backs at the highest level of the sport. He began his coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 and served in several roles, including special teams quality control coach, running backs coach and assistant head coach. During his time with the Eagles, Staley helped guide some of the NFL’s most productive rushing attacks and was part of the coaching staff that won Super Bowl LII.
He later served as assistant head coach and running backs coach for the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers before joining the Cleveland Browns in 2024 as running backs coach. He is currently in his 17th year as an NFL coach.
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Staley and his wife, Maria, are the parents of seven children.
