Fulton, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College men's soccer program scored three unanswered goals to defeat Bethel University's JV, 3-1 on Friday.
At the 12th minute, the Wildcats netted the game's first goal with a header and held the lead until Gage Lashlee (Olive Branch) scored the equalizer on a free kick that banked in off the goal post at the 32nd minute.
The Indians had a great scoring opportunity late in the first half as Samuel Franco (Ecru) connected with Sammy Gallardo (Saltillo), whose header went just high of the crossbar keeping the game tied at 1-1 heading to the break.
Seven minutes into the second half Ian Thomas (Southaven) stole a pass from the Wildcats' keeper and scored the go-ahead goal.
Thomas struck again at the 56th minute with an insurance goal and the Indians defense was able to hold off the Wildcats and pick up the victory.
Next up for the Indians is a conference rivalry showdown with Hinds Community College Friday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. in Fulton.
