POPLARVILLE, MS – The Lady Indians picked up a road win over No. 16 Pearl River Community College, 42-41.
Leanna Silas put the Lady Indians up, 42-40, with 1:49 left in the game. The Lady Wildcats made the front end of two shots from the free throw line but missed the second attempt to make it 42-41 with 1:35 remaining.
The Lady Indians missed a pair of free throws to leave the door open for the Lady Wildcats in the final seconds of the game. Pearl River missed a lay-up and I'Xana Winters grabbed the rebound to secure the win for the Lady Indians.
Despite shooting just 21.7% from the field, the Lady Indians' capitalized on 52 rebounds, including 21 on the offensive end to help pick up the one-point victory.
Jestiny Dixon led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Alayna Ball added 10 points and Tootie Lockett contributed 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Lady Indians improved 14-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play. They will host Coahoma on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
