Poplarville, Miss. – In their first road test of the regular season, the No. 18 Lady Indians dropped a 2-1 decision to Pearl River Friday.
The Lady Indians (1-2) attacked early and often, but were unable to find the back of the net, leaving the game scoreless at the break.
Pearl River broke the scoreless contest at the 66th minute and held their 1-0 lead until Sydney Hughes (Tupelo) broke through two defenders and beat the keeper to net the equalizer at the 81st minute.
In the closing minutes of the tight contest, Pearl River scored the game winner to pick up the 2-1 win.
The Lady Indians will begin North Division play Monday when they travel to Raymond to battle the Hinds Lady Eagles. The game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
